The TCF Canada writing test asks you to write 3 texts in 60 minutes, from a short message to an argued opinion. It is marked out of 20 by trained examiners and converted to an NCLC level. The format is set by France Éducation International.
Write to a friend, colleague or organisation to describe, invite, inform or ask for something.
Tell an experience or describe an event for readers of a blog, newsletter or website.
Summarise two short documents with opposing views, then give and justify your own position.
| NCLC level | Writing score (/20) |
|---|---|
| NCLC 5 | 6 |
| NCLC 6 | 7–9 |
| NCLC 7 | 10–11 |
| NCLC 8 | 12–13 |
| NCLC 9 | 14–15 |
| NCLC 10+ | 16–20 |
The AI reads each of your 3 tasks as a TCF Canada examiner would, on four criteria (sociolinguistic appropriateness, ability to inform and explain, vocabulary and grammar), and tells you your CEFR level, what works, what to fix and how.
Each session groups the 3 tasks so you practise complete, realistic combinations.
Sociolinguistic appropriateness, informing and explaining, vocabulary, morphosyntax.
Your own sentences rewritten correctly, with the rule behind each change.
A CEFR level for your production and why you got it.
60 minutes for the 3 tasks, to train your time management.
Strengths, points to improve and concrete tips for your next text.
From week 2, your plan schedules one writing action per week with a target score out of 20. Below target, a new session topic is added, so you keep writing until your texts reach the NCLC you need.
Your first corrected tasks give your starting score and CEFR level in writing.
Each writing action has a target out of 20 matching the NCLC you aim for.
The plan never repeats the topic you just wrote: you get a different one to apply the AI advice.
Write the 3 tasks inside a full exam simulation and see your writing NCLC estimate.
Run a full TCF Canada simulation: you write the 3 tasks on the official timer after the reading and listening tests, and the AI corrects them straight away with a score out of 20.
Short message, article or letter, and comparison of two opinions.
Converted with the IRCC table for TCF Canada.
Your result updates your weak skills and next week's actions.
Answer the whole prompt, respect the word counts and link your ideas with connectors: most lost points come from missing content, not from spelling.
Who writes, to whom, why? Two minutes of planning avoids going off-topic.
60–120, 120–150 and 120–180 words. Too short loses content points.
« d'abord », « cependant », « par conséquent », « en conclusion » structure your text.
Check agreements, verb endings and accents before the timer ends.
